Chris Kilmore, the DJ and keyboard player from Calabasas-based rock group Incubus, has unloaded his Topanga-area home for $1.55 million—nearly double the $815,000 he paid for it way back in 2002.

The Mediterranean revival, built in 1990, sits behind a large, thatched brick motor court, with a two-car garage and a number of gables dominating the mightily articulated façade.

A great room with vaulted ceilings, a Saltillo tile fireplace and exposed beams has been set up as a media center with an overwhelming screen and state-of-the-art sound system, while the dining area has a lighted tray ceiling and an intricately carved wooden border around French doors that lead to the backyard.

The 3,900-square-foot home also includes four bedrooms, five bathrooms, another great room, a kitchen complete with two-tiered center island and stainless steel appliances and a den previously jam-packed with the musician’s vinyl record collection.

A frameless glass shower and sleek soaking tub in the master bathroom open to a back sunroom that leads to the well-appointed backyard, which includes an oversized fireplace, a bench swing, a stacked-stone hot tub and a putting green.

Located a bit west of Los Angeles, Topanga’s not too far from the West Hollywood neighborhoods where Incubus cut their teeth—at clubs like Whisky A Go Go, The Troubadour and The Roxy—in the early ‘90s. Their breakthrough came in 1999 with the release of Make Yourself, which spawned the singles “Stellar” and “Drive.” Among Kilmore’s other projects has been soundtrack work for the 2000 Adam Sandler film Little Nicky and the TBS talk series Conan.
