Prospective homebuyers who dream of living like a rock star will want to mark their calendars for September 1, when Mad Dog Ranch—the Crawford, CO, estate of rock and roll legend Joe Cocker—will be sold to the highest bidder. After a year on the market with an asking price of $7 million, Cocker’s widow Pam has decided to enlist Supreme Auctions to handle the no-reserve bidding.

The 15,873-square-foot mansion was completed in the early ‘90s as the Cockers’ vacation home. In 1994, they decided to move in full-time.

An English Tudor manor with a stone façade, the main home features a grand foyer complete with wrought-iron chandelier, sconces and railing on the sweeping staircase, as well as a unique marble inlay in the hardwood floor. Gothic cathedral windows loom large in the formal living and dining rooms, while shaker cabinets and a large center island/bar topped with an elaborate wrought-iron pot rack distinguish the kitchen.

A cherry-paneled library with an abundance of built-in shelving is an excellent hideout for the book lover, and an ample game room includes a full bar. The upper floor includes the private family quarters, with a 1,500-square foot master suite featuring 13-foot vaulted ceilings and a gorgeous stone fireplace, as well as two bathrooms, dressing rooms and a private balcony with views of the Colorado wilderness.

A one-acre swimming pond, a 7-stall horse barn, multiple greenhouses and outbuildings and 80 irrigated acres with ATV and horse trails make this home the perfect getaway for the family that loves the outdoors.

Cocker, who released more than 20 studio albums in his illustrious career, won a Grammy for his 1983 duet with Jennifer Warnes, “Up Where We Belong.” He may be best known to younger generations for his 1968 cover of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends,” which was used as the theme song for ABC’s The Wonder Years.
