In honor of B&B Italia’s 50th anniversary, London studio Doshi Levien has created marine-like foot stools, and Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa has designed a sheepskin armchair and footrest.

The pieces were displayed at the Salone del Mobile furniture show in Milan last month as part of B&B Italia’s showcase of its limited edition anniversary lineup.

The Fukasawa-designed armchair is a special rendition of his 2009 Grande Papilio chair, and it features a tall winged back perfect that makes its owners feel like they are sitting in a wooly throne. This piece will be limited to just 50 numbered examples.

Doshi Levien’s trio of foot stools come in oval, square, and triangular shapes and are covered in either fabric or leather and feature an oversized button in the center. These poufs take on the form of “primeval marine creatures or large unicellular animals.”

The brand also developed a small armchair dubbed the Do-Maru, named after the leather plates worn by Japanese samurai warriors, which boasts two leather plate-like pieces that sit on a pair of V-shaped legs in the back and tubular metal legs in the front.

B&B Italia was formed in 1966 and has worked with famous designers and firms such as Patricia Urquiola, Barber and Osgerby, Doshi Levien, and many others during its 50-year tenure. Last year the company was purchased by Italian investment firm Investindustrial, which aims to bring B&B Italia to broader international recognition.
