When companies bring their concepts to auto shows they normally are showing off features consumers can expect to see in the near, or distant, future. That might not be the case with the gullwing doors Lincoln showed off on its Navigator concept that debuted at the 2016 New York Auto Show this week.

The special doors span from the front and second rows of the Lincoln’s luxury SUV, though it is highly unlikely the Navigator will ever feature gullwing doors on a production model.

The changes don’t end in the door frames of the Navigator concept either, especially with a fresh take on the exterior sharing some similarities with another of the brand’s popular models, the Continental. The special SUV Lincoln brought to New York also has a bevy of interior amenities, including 30-way adjustable seats, a new infotainment system, onboard WiFi, and a wardrobe management system to help keep clothes neat and pressed.

The engine of the concept Navigator is a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 that pumps out over 400 horsepower, most likely the same engine powering the production Continental and MKZ models. This is a shift from the Ford-sourced EcoBoost V6 the current Navigator model uses.

While many of the facets of this Navigator will never be in a production version of Lincoln’s SUV, especially the doors, it is likely certain aspects of the concept will be on display in Navigators to come.
