There are a ton of universal remotes on the market. When a new remote arrives on the market and manages to stand out it’s almost surprising.

This is certainly the case with the Ray Enterprises Super Remote. The new remote is designed to look like a smartphone with a low-friction touchscreen and side bumper buttons to control sound and mute options. It links with the user’s Wi-Fi, and uses Bluetooth and infrared to work with devices both new and old.

Ray says its Super Remote will pair with over 1,200 brands and 200,000 devices, even classic televisions and equipment thanks to its infrared ability. But that doesn’t mean modern devices will have issues taking commands from the Super Remote, which works with devices like the Apple TV, Roku, and video game consoles.

It can even pull up local programming from service providers or navigate on its own screen to not interrupt what is on the main screen. Oh yeah, it also can learn and remember a viewer’s preferences to remind them when a favorite show is on.

The Super Remote comes with a charging cable and charging stand, which shouldn’t be too much of a habit as Ray equipped it with a 2,550mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery (an iPhone 6 comes with a 1,810mAh battery), so the Super Remote will have plenty of power for a full-day marathon of usage.

Ray is asking $200 for its new Super Remote with delivery expected in late Spring.
