Cartier’s all-new Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux is making waves in the world of horology. The complicated new timepiece also garnered plenty of attention at SIHH 2016.

Beautiful and complex, the new watch has no component connecting the winding crown to the movement. In fact, it’s a bit of an engineering mystery with a 43.5-mm case of bold palladium of millesimal 950.

The Caliber 9462 MC Astromystérieux complication is a mechanical manual-wind movement and can be partially seen through the dial area. However the most incredible aspect of the new timepiece is the fact that it’s made up of 408 parts, features a power reserve of 5o hours, and is water resistant to 98 feet.

Interested customers should move quickly, as only 100 pieces will be produced and sold. Of course, such a unique piece comes with a price tag of $181,000.
