World’s First BMW i Showroom Now Open in Tokyo

BMW fans should get excited. The luxury vehicle brand has just opened its first BMW i Megacity studio showroom in Tokyo, Japan, and it’s as beautiful as expected.

The minimalist studio features walls of glass, light wood accents, and minimalist furnishings so the focus is on the cars.

Since alternative fuel vehicles and hybrids are so popular in Japan, BMW is hoping to become more competitive among brands like Nissan, Honda, and Toyota by focusing on fuel-efficient models.

Much different than an American showroom, the German automaker’s studio is the first of its kind and is dedicated exclusively to the sale of “i” vehicles. Visitors will see the affordable i3 and the more advanced hybrid i8 on display, although additional models are sure to join the lineup in the future.

In an attempt to further connect to the Japanese market, BMW is also launching a car sharing service for the i3.
