Mercedes-Benz’s new GLC is redefining the aesthetic for SUVs. Boxy family cars of the past now have to compete with the sleek, round lines of the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The new sport utility vehicle will be available in two options—the all-wheel-drive GLC 300 4Matic and the rear-wheel-drive GLC 300. The luxury vehicle company is working on the development of diesel and hybrid variants.

The new makeover is due in part to the larger bodyshell crafted from high-strength steel and aluminum. Around 110 pounds lighter than the previous model, the GLC has an all-new interior design too. Much like the look of the C-Class, drivers can expect a luxurious cockpit complete with a touchpad controller in the handrest that communicates with the standard 7-inch screen attached to the dashboard.

With a nine-speed automatic transmission, the GLC’s performance is strong at 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Advanced safety features to match the vehicle’s strength include but are not limited to Attention Assist for drowsy driving, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Pre-Safe Brake for pedestrian detection.

Stacked with upgraded features and an elegant new design, the Mercedes-Benz GLC will make its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show this September. Interested drivers can check out floor models this November.
