British designer Paul Smith has taken the traditional Anglepoise lamp design and put a contemporary twist on it. It was revealed at the Clerkenwell Design Week in London.

“It has been brilliant to work on this project,” Smith said. “Anglepoise is such an iconic piece of British design, I am honored to have been involved.”

This modern version of the iconic Type 75 Anglepoise celebrates the lamp’s 80th anniversary. Smith combines bold colors, brass, and a woven cable to put a modern twist on a classic. Its curved back and hooded top focuses the light source where you want it.

The lamp will retail for $270.
