Girard-Perregaux unveiled one of its most impressive timepieces to date at the 2014 Basel World luxury jewelry and watch show called the Tri-Axial Tourbillon at the 2014 Basel World luxury jewelry and watch show.

The watch is impressive for a number of reason, not least of which is the fully visible tourbillon that has three independent axes of rotation and is suspended inside a three-dimensional bubble encased in sapphire crystal.  It is as if the tourbillon is floating in the air. The tourbillon has three layers. In the middle, is a normal looking, run-of-the-mill tourbillon with a minute rotation.  The second is faster with a 30 second cage.  The outer cage rotates once ever two minutes. The whole toubillon mechanism weighs only 1.24 grams.

The Girard-Perregaux Tri-Axial Tourbillon has a 16.83mm thick caliber that is housed inside a 48mm pink gold case.  The back case is transparent so you can watch the entire movement in action. To top it off, the watch has a stylish leather strap.

The Girard-Perregaux Tri-Axial Tourbillon is limited to just ten pieces.  One will cost you $501,900.
