Feature director James Cameron listed his ranch in Santa Barbara County this summer. The writer and Academy Award-winning helmsman hefted the massive estate in Gaviota onto the open market with a proportionally correct asking price: $33 million.
The property was completed in 1990. The main house features five bedrooms and six baths across 8,000 sq. ft. of interiors, but the compound includes additional guest homes. The residence is nestled in a small valley that’s been treated to oasis-like landscaping; it is surrounded by a considerable buffer zone, as the property’s land extends to over a hundred acres.
The amenities list across the estate is stunning. The centerpiece of the outdoor living area is a large lagoon-style pool; a tennis court, gym, screening room, offices, game room, and massive master suite are also featured.
Other details provided make this an ecologically sensitive lifestyle property: organic gardens, on-site water, and an alternative power system that makes use of the abundant solar and wind available in the area. The estate’s helipad should cut down considerably on the commute to the workplace.
The property isn’t the first Cameron has dispensed with over the past few years. In 2021, he sold his Malibu retreat for about $9 million.
Cameron’s upcoming projects include Avatar 3 and Avatar 4.
