Bilionaire Sue Gross Seeking $17.5M for Italian-Inflected Villa in Beverly Hills

The modern in Beverly Hills listed by billionaire Sue Gross — it saw a relist just last month that leaves its ask at $28.9 million — now has company on the open market. Joining it is the next-door property Gross acquired in December of last year: a five-bedroom villa of 5,367 sq. ft. It is priced at $17.5 million.

Designed with a stylistic conceit that suggests the Tuscan countryside, the 1966-built house is a rustic build, but there’s a bit of modern around the edges; as a result, it’s a warm house, but its more fantastical elements are tempered somewhat. A bit of pragmatism in the romance, to give it shape. The exterior is stone and the roof is clay tile, however, and there’s some ambitious creeping ivy, so from the motor court the house looks suitably Mediterranean.

The interiors begin after a recessed entrance. The progression is bright, with tile floors a potent earthy element balanced by the midcentury-inspired elements, which include a bank of floating shelves in the study; the room is a gem, opening via steel-framed glass to a patio lounge with a red brick wall as a backdrop. The kitchen’s a bit of a surprise, foregoing the trattoria style for a commercial design scheme.

For its unique take on a rustic Italian ceiling, the office/study gets special mention. The ceiling design is reprised a bit in the master bedroom, which also features a massive picture window and partially tile-covered wall. The half-acre lot is dominated by a pool and modern-style cabana with fireplace.

Gross’s net worth is around $1.6 billion.
