Flip or Flop tipster Christina Hall (she changed her name from Haack following recent marriage) recently closed on another home in Newport Beach. The HGTV personality and gifted residential reviser paid $12 million for the five-bedroom purebred modern, according to Dirt.
If a cursory glance at the home’s exterior led you to opine that the 6,984 square-footer hails from the middle of the 1960s, you’d be on the right track stylistically. The house was designed to recall those midcentury classics of greater L.A., and pulls off quite a coup for a 2021 build; it looks precisely the part.
From the street, what strikes the eye is the intersection of line — gates, extended eaves, accents. In back, the house takes on a U-shape overall, with the sides forming a courtyard area given over to a rectangular pool and a companion strip of lawn.
Interior spaces evoke the midcentury era as well; there’s all the oversized glass, of course, but also glossy terrazzo floors. Other details include masonry accents and the odd linear fireplace. An indoor/outdoor living area is the focus of the shared spaces; it opens to the lawn and pool area via a long wall of retractable glass.
Haack’s other purchases in Orange County include the Dana Point five-bed she purchased in 2021 for $10.3 million. She sold it last month for $11.5 million.
