‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Kunal Nayyar Picks Up Tastefully Restored Tudor in L.A. for $7.5M

Kunal Nayyar’s purchase of this period Tudor-style estate in Los Angeles marks another high-dollar real estate purchase or listing in the city by a ‘Big Bang Theory’ alumnus in the past year. About a month ago, Kaley Cuoco trimmed the price of her house in Tarzana by $2 million; in July, Simon Helberg purchased a period Spanish-style in Los Feliz for $6.9 million before selling his previous residence to ‘Stranger Things’ co-creator Matt Duffer. And, in April, Jim Parsons sold the Seyler House to Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul for $7 million.

Nayyar’s purchase is a beaut, though, at least if you appreciate the style. A varied semi-storybook roofline, mullion tower windows opening onto a Juliet balcony, a brief suggestion of exposed timber, and a brick exterior make for an intense streetside impression of the main house, which dates to 1924. At their most convincing, the interiors are incredibly warm. The upstairs library is a standout, with garnet paint combining with plank hardwood for a literate, cozy feel, while the dining room is trimmed in a fairly vibrant and adventurous blue.

There are at least 6 bedrooms and 7 baths on the estate, and as many as four structures. Augmenting the 7,000 square-foot centerpiece are a 1,000 square-foot guest house, a studio, and a gym. The nearly one acre of grounds is serene and, again, occasionally fairytale; a venerable old tree stands as both sentry and centerpiece to the front yard, while the back is arranged as a self-contained community of main house and auxiliary buildings with a pool between.
