Windsor Capital Founder Pat Nesbitt Lists Palatial Montecito Estate for $65M

Windsor Capital founder Pat Nesbitt has listed his custom-built Italianate mansion in Montecito for $65 million. According to public records, this is the second time the home has been listed in the past few years. Nesbitt previously listed the estate called Bella Vista in 2016. The ask was the same.

The villa-style home and its satellite cottages collectively span some 43,000 square feet, and sits on nearly 20 acres of some of the prettiest real estate in Southern California. Indeed, one would be tempted to begin a look at this estate by extolling the virtues of the acreage, if the house weren’t so wildly extravagant.

Seven of the property’s 11 bedrooms, and nine of the 14 total baths are in the main home. Accessed via a long private drive, the house begins with a wildly ornate foyer culminating in a rotunda with partial columns, frescoes, and a crystal chandelier. The details—and the gilt—keep coming in a deluge. Ornate ceilings with crown moldings and gold leaf, marble floors, more chandeliers, inlaid oak floors, more columns, and sets of French doors all help to define the opulent living style. It occasionally does seek to charm rather than impress, however, and the verdant solarium breakfast room with panoramic covered ceiling and frosted roof light catches it in a less manically conspicuous mood.

The grounds are another order of business. Like the main house, the property-at-large shines most convincingly when it’s more at rest—the footpaths, stocked pond, and water-feature landscaping commend the living style highly—but the more exciting features of the equestrian estate include a polo field, a helicopter hangar, and golf greens.
