MLB first baseman Joey Votto recently picked up a looming Los Angeles-area contemporary for $10.5 million.

The four-bedroom new construction waterfront retreat is located in Hermosa Beach; its 3,826 square feet of living space spans three floors.

The beachside pad’s exterior is defined by timber, stone and glass. Within, it features a magnificent staircase and a great deal of wood, including natural-finished floors and plank ceilings.

The open-concept main living space is on the second floor; the share area is accented with a wood-paneled ceiling, a stone fireplace, and a wall of retractable glass sliders leading to the beachfront balcony. An ultra-modern kitchen boasts sleek white cabinetry accented with natural wood and a dining area. The entire space is flooded with natural light and views of the ocean.

Downstairs, there is a comfortable lounge space with a large wet bar, wine storage, and an indoor-outdoor living area. And upstairs? A full-floor upper-level master suite with a private balcony, spa-style bathroom, and large walk-in closet.

Six-time All-Star Votto is currently the highest paid member of the Cincinnati Reds.
