BMW Motorrad recently introduced the latest iteration of its roadster, the 2026 BMW R 1300 R. This new model packs a punch with a reengineered 1,300cc boxer engine delivering 145 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful BMW boxer engine yet.
At the heart of this power boost is BMW’s unique ShiftCam technology, which varies valve timing and lift to optimize power and efficiency. This allows the R 1300 R to achieve exhilarating acceleration while maintaining fuel economy. Complementing the engine upgrades is an all-new steel frame with aluminum rear section, providing nimble handling and stability.
Visually, the R 1300 R sports a more aggressive, dynamic design. The styling echoes BMW’s sporting heritage with a short tail section and contrasting paint details. LED lighting and a distinctive octagonal headlight give it a modern edge. The ergonomics have also evolved, with rearset footpegs and a flatter handlebar placing the rider in an active front-wheel-oriented position.
The electronics suite has been enhanced as well. Three standard riding modes adapt to conditions, while the optional Riding Modes Pro adds “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” for track-inspired performance. Other high-tech options include radar-based safety systems and GPS with electric locking.
The 2026 R 1300 R is priced at $16,595.
