Las Vegas Home Where Michael Jackson Resided Available for $11.7M

The Las Vegas compound Michael Jackson once called home is on the open market. The King of Pop leased the place for $50,000/month beginning in 2006. Part gated fantasy and part suburban compound, the estate occupies a large lot in Spring Valley. It is currently asking $11.7 million. The listing is held by Windy Goss of eXp Realty.

Titled Hacienda Palomino, the property is anchored by a 17,461 sq. ft. mansion containing 10 bedrooms and 8.5 baths. The house begins with a grand porte-cochere, which offers some insight into the home’s evocations of interior space. An impressive design, the great room is a palatial centerpiece, with a fountain and statuary in the middle of the lower floor, a number of discrete living areas, a full-sized bar, and a wraparound balcony above, while the master is an extended progression of sleeping, sitting and entertainment spaces, with arcades for definition and a fireplace along the way.

The additional amenities of this house and its grounds are a whopping litany, and taken as a whole confound reasons to ever leave the property. High on the list is the massive pool and outdoor living space, which includes a pool house, bar and summer kitchen and tennis court amid a number of living and lounging spots for intimate or larger groups. A gym, a guest apartment, a sauna, a screening room, an office with a full wall of built-in bookshelves featuring rail ladder access, and a rooftop deck are also included in the layout.

Neverland Ranch, the other major Jackson-associated property to enter the market in the last few years, sold in 2020 for $22 million. The buyer was Ron Burkle, who also purchased Bob Hope’s Palm Springs and Toluca Lake homes, and once owned the Ennis House — the so-called Blade Runner House — a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Mayan Revival in Los Angeles.

Jackson launched his solo career in 1972. He would not, however, top the Billboard 200 chart and become a hysteria-inducing megastar until a decade later; his sixth album, 1982’s Thriller, rocketed to the top of the charts in every major market. With sales over 70 million, it remains the best-selling album of all time. It was the first album where Jackson had written at least half the songs; he penned “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” “The Girl Is Mine,” “Beat It,” and “Billie Jean.” And that was apparently the missing ingredient; he wrote nearly all the songs on subsequent studio releases, and they were all chart-toppers. His sister—one Janet—had almost the exact same career trajectory.

The listing is held by Windy Goss of eXp Realty.
