The New York City townhouse of multiple-year NBA All-Star Steve Nash has sold after about two months on the open market. The Cobble Hill property went to its new owner for $6.125 million; it had been listed at $6.25 million prior to the sale.

The house dates to 1900. A few of its original details remain intact, although a massive overhaul has left it stylized Scandinavian overall. At one point, the build period and a notable exception to the style coalesce; the staircase, a voluptuous floating design with sculpted balusters that brings a touch of extravagance to the home, is positioned near a lovely fireplace which, if not original to the home, has been sourced from one of a similar vintage.

The greater mass of elements at work keeps to the recipe, and include wide-plank hardwood in a pale finish and a host of pendant light fixtures. Elsewhere, the vintage remains present, if masked, by the overall blazing white treatment that predominates throughout. The red brick that pops up on the roof has its antecedent in the living room, even if it has been rendered neutral.

The layout fundamentals of the 20-foot-wide residence distribute five beds and five baths across four above-ground indoor levels and 4,200 sq. ft. of interiors. Aside from the rooftop terrace, there is a garden on the first floor. Additional amenities include a full-floor master retreat.
