The 1938-built Los Angeles home of actress Anna Kendrick is a bright new addition to the city’s rental market this winter. The tastefully revised 2,764 sq. ft. residence, which contains three bedrooms and four baths, is priced at $12,950 per month.

The house appears to have been gradually expanded over the years, but regardless of its history it now appeals readily to the artistic eye. The most recent interior refresh has brought an overt asymmetry to the living style; notably the outer cabinets over the sink, and the trio of matched but unique pendant fixtures that preside playfully over the built-in hardwood U-shaped bench and breakfasting table.

In the home’s living room, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace accent has been revised in stacked stone tile, and it’s a fine job; glass doors on either side of the installation open to a deck, where a companion fireplace can be found. The outdoor spot is tree-shaded and green. Upstairs, the master gets the best look at the city available from the property, as well as a very open dressing area and a bath with a soaking tub backed by a bluestone tile wall.

Other details at work in the home include plentiful built-in shelving, oak floors, a leafy café patio, a grassy yard, and the house’s staircase, a steep-gradient design with a lovely hardwood balustrade and marvelously ponderous block hardwood steps that give it an unusually effective sense of solidity.

Kendrick’s upcoming projects include comedy feature Self Reliance. She also lends her voice to the upcoming third opus of computer-animated film Trolls.
