Niesmann+Bischoff Arto: The Art of RVing

The array of next-generation recreational vehicles continues to broaden. German-based firm Niesmann+Bischoff’s Arto is one of the more interesting, an efficient and remarkably refined getaway vehicle with 2020s visuals that is, considering its liner-class size, surprisingly nimble on the road.

Niesmann+Bischoff’s Arto uses the Fiat Ducato as a build foundation, and can be ordered in lengths from 26 feet. The front-wheel drive model uses a low-frame AL-KO chassis for maximum storage and headroom; the design also drops the center of gravity in contrast to other chassis, which improves stability during cornering. The shell, fabricated from glass-fiber reinforced plastic, is remarkably light. The model is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

But the real story, of course, is life on the road, and the Arto features a host of layout options that extend from the foundation: four seats, living area, bathroom, kitchen, and queen bedroom. Standard 3D film furniture can be traded out for wood, while textile choices abound and include fine leather. Cabinetry features ‘push-to-open’ latches.

Niesmann+Bischoff’s website sells the firm’s Lithium Energy Pack in no uncertain terms to long-term rovers: independence improves threefold with it, making the roughly $10K option a no-brainer for most buyers. A ‘Comfort Pack’ option is also available.

The Arto is priced from $92,300.
