Feature film director Lee Daniels has listed his residence in Beverly Hills on the open market this fall. The property appeared with a $7.245 million asking price last month. Daniels — whose films include The Butler and Precious — acquired it in the summer of 2018, according to public records.

The 1952-built home sits at the end of a languid and romantic driveway. It’s presently painted a deep shade of blue-tinged gray, and the cliff-like planes that define the home’s façade are rendered more imposing and dramatic by virtue of the shade.

Inside the home, walls and ceilings finished with unpainted plank, severe corners, black slate floors, concrete, and wood framed doors and windows can be seen. A shoji-like multi-pane steel-framed glass door provides transitional enhancement in the shared living area, while the stairwell is a gem; the staircase is a mix of steel and hardwood, while the exterior wall is a series of wood-framed glass panes that climbs with the switchback.

The home’s master suite is a 1,000 sq. ft. sanctuary. Additional amenities include a large deck, a pool, and a real treat: a detached library.

Daniels’ upcoming projects include horror thriller The Deliverance, with Glenn Close and Omar Epps.
