Comedian, writer and actor Jon Favreau made a substantial investment in the endless summer lifestyle when he doled out $24.25 million for a three-story villa in Laguna Beach. According to Dirt, he quietly picked it up last summer. The 1999-built property features an exceedingly warm exterior of Mediterranean indoor/outdoor lifestyle details, a clay tile roof, and a stucco exterior in an earthy yellow tinge reminiscent of Tuscany.

The villa is expansive; 8,600 sq. ft. indoors, with six bedrooms and nine full or partial baths, on a .38-acre lot that’s filled out with a fire pit featuring a curving bench seat, a stretch of privacy-hedge protected lawn, and a lavish Roman-style pool with a companion cabana that houses a bar and is decorated with a quartet of columns. Although not bluff-side, the house is situated on an imperious hilltop location that surveys the immediate landscape from a high point.

Interiors are a blend of contemporary and classical Mediterranean rusticity — or an idea of it — and the living style emerges from that, and from a lavish sensibility. Its creature comforts profile is filled out nicely, and a tour of the home reveals a backlit marble bar, and a spa. Coffered ceilings, tile floors, crystal chandeliers and ornamental columns contribute to the decorative style, which is heavy on the ornament.

The home design uses French doors liberally, and as a result the primary spaces have a breezy quality that’s incredibly appealing. Balconies and terraces stand ready beyond them, and the nursery opens to a fireplace patio. In back, a loggia completes the fantasy.
