Singer, songwriter and guitar player Melanie Martinez recently closed on a charming 3,600 sq. ft. Alpine-come-Tudor in the Ventura County horse-friendly community of Bell Canyon. Martinez — who has spent the last decade riding an appearance on The Voice to stardom, and penned a string of hits including “Dollhouse” — paid $2.1 million for the half-timbered five-bedroom, five-bath, according to Dirt.

The 1979-built house sits on a .79-acre lot. Inside and out, it’s an exercise in mood. Details emerging from a glance at the façade include a stone foundation, slate roof, stone chimney, and a set of front steps rising at a leisurely gradient to a weighty sidelight-flanked front door finished with a Tudor arch, lighted by a pair of lantern sconces, and protected by a beamed ceiling.

Stepping inside the home, details include plank below, plank above, a step-down living room with a bay window, wet bar and stone fireplace accent wall to the right and a switchback staircase to the left. The combination kitchen and family room is the heart of the home, and features a white-painted brick partial with a two-sided fireplace installed as a means of room-to-room definition.

The kitchen layout is more or less rotunda, with an octagonal tray ceiling for emphasis and an island along the way. Upstairs, the master bedroom is an architectural extension, which gives it glass on three sides. A pool, tile sun deck, elevated spa, loggia, and two-bedroom stable complete a quick look at the amenities of this turnkey (excluding horses) equestrian estate.
