Roman Abramovich’s marine fleet gets more impressive with every article. His quiver of superyachts can most readily be rendered in hierarchical order by size, with the 536-foot Eclipse taking top billing, and the 460-foot Solaris landing in the tween spot. Smaller craft include Garçon and Halo which, a day after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, were reportedly legally handed over by Abramovich to a friend.

Abramovich’s lesser yacht is a $40 million craft named Aquamarine. Like Garçon and Halo, Aquamarine is no longer owned by Abramovich; according to Business Insider magazine, ownership of the 164-foot boat was switched from Abramovich to a business associate within hours of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Wink-wink.

Aquamarine is the work of Heesen Yachts, the Dutch yard that also built Vagit Alekperov’s 114-foot Space, as well as his 230-foot Galactica Super Nova. She features a fast-cruising semi-displacement design; the yacht is capable of a top speed of 23 knots. Cruising at 11, her range is 3,100 nautical miles. Aquamarine is outfitted with ‘green’ MTU engines, gas-burners which produce fewer NOx emissions than traditional motor yacht diesels.

With five cabins onboard — including a full-beam owner’s suite — Aquamarine can sleep 12, with crew berthing for 9. Her interiors are fairly sedate, with Art Déco riffs here and there and a neutral and cool tonal scheme, and exceedingly bright in daylight hours by virtue of plentiful glass.

Elsewhere, Abramovich is fighting to keep his private jets. The U.S. government recently targeted them with seizure warrants, claiming they violated export controls when they flew to Russia in March;. It’s unclear whether the move is merely a matter of optics.

Abramovich’s net worth is around $9 billion, per Forbes.
