Land Rover has seen an opportunity and moved quickly to capitalize on it. The result is a new Defender variant, the 130, which follows 90 and 110 versions of the rough-and-ready SUV, but allows up to eight passengers to ride in comfort on automotive adventures both suburban and off-road.

While the variant rides on the same platform as its brethren, its body is over a foot longer than the standard Defender. With specialty tuning shops offering customizations for the model, one look at the 130 will tell you that the Defender can also provide a platform for limousine conversions.

To compensate for the added weight and beast-of-burden use case profile, the Defender 130 can be ordered with six-cylinder gas engines producing 296 HP and 346 lb-ft, and 395 HP and 405 lb-ft respectively.

The Defender 130 offers four-zone climate adjustment specific to the variant, heated seats — even in the third row — and separate sunroof controls for front and back passengers. Other features unique to the new Defender include a new exterior color: Sedona Red. For those who are absolutely against third rows, the Defender 130 can be ordered in a two-row configuration as well.

Land Rover has base stickered the Defender 130 at $68,000, exclusive of fees.
