Over the past few years, the residential real estate purchases of actress Kristen Wiig have established a revealing pattern: she’s a devotee of midcentury design.

Among Wiig’s acquisitions in the Los Angeles area are moderns in Los Feliz and Silver Lake, the former bought in 2013 and sold for $2 million in 2017, the latter purchased in 2014 and passed on to a new owner in 2018 (she fared very well on that one; in for $1.7 million, and out for $5.1 million inside of five years).

In 2017, Wiig shelled out $3 million for an outstanding example of the style: Case Study House #10, which is located in Pasadena. According to Dirt, she moved it on to a fellow thespian: actress Lily Collins, who paid Wiig $3.9 million for the keys.

Registered by the U.S. Department of the Interior as an official Historic Place, this 3,425 sq. ft. ideal family headquarters of the era of postwar certainty features an abundance of original details, including a corner fireplace in a masonry accent wall, a single-stringer staircase with a guywire balustrade, as well as frosted glass panes and hardwood floors. The interiors are occasionally sharply angular, an abruptness which is tempered by the ebullient sense of space and glassiness of the home’s architecture.

One of the more luxurious homes of the CSH program, the property boasts an exterior recreation area that is distributed languidly over a large area, with a tiered patio complex designed around a large pool and sundeck.

Wiig’s upcoming projects include Apple TV+ miniseries Mrs. American Pie, with Laura Dern and Ricky Martin. She’s also slated to star in Wonder Woman 3 alongside Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter.

Collins stars in Netflix comedy-drama Emily in Paris; the series was renewed for a third and fourth season earlier this year.
