It’s been some time since we looked at a watch from Girard-Perregaux, and that’s a shame. The company’s designs manage to encapsulate hundreds of years of tradition and make it look easy, and they also artfully balance overtly dazzling elements and an extraordinarily tasteful sensibility.

Neat tricks both, and tricks which the Tourbillon Three Gold Bridges with Ruby Heart watch seems ideally poised to represent. The watch also comes with a preexisting narrative—it is inspired by the story of 19th-century watchmaker and firm namesake Constant Girard and his wife, firm namesake Marie Perregaux.

The watch’s case is fashioned from 18-carat pink gold. Its dial is ruby heart, which is derived from zoisite stone, and it is crowned by three gold bridges. 56 brilliant-cut diamonds and 18 brilliant-cut rubies surround the dial. Beneath it all beats a GP09600-1620 calibre.

The Tourbillon Three Gold Bridges with Ruby Heart watch is priced at 193,000 Swiss Francs, which converts at current rates to about $210K.
