From Mediterranean to subtropical.

Last summer, Alex Rodriguez was cruising on a yacht along the Cote d’Azur. The pleasure craft, a 180-footer called Ocean Paradise, was built by Benetti, and boasts a lounge with a dance floor, a gym, a large pool, and six cabins; its master stateroom features a private balcony. A-Rod probably ponied up around $312K for a week aboard the craft, which had been listed for sale at the time at €27 million. As a side note, the yacht went to a new owner around the middle of this month.

Rodriguez’s landlubber accommodations adventures of late include a more recent development: the sale of an investment home in Miami. Public records appear to be somewhat contradictory, but sources indicate the property changed hands in early November, and closed at $6.3 million.

A-Rod owns or has owned several properties in the area, including a custom-built modern estate in Coral Gables. The house in question is a bit more ‘classically’ Floridian: a 1962-built French West Indies-style cottage in the city’s Design District. The home’s interiors are clean, bright and unpretentious. Top billing goes to the waterfront lot, though. Tropical landscaping, a pool, and a BBQ area support the laid-back lifestyle.
