Earlier this year, Tyra Banks added to her residential real estate portfolio by acquiring a Malibu beachfront. The purchase of the adventurous early-1980s mix — the house features modern design cues and a soft yellow exterior that suggests Mediterranean…with some playful industrial cosmetics tossed in for flavor — set Banks back $4.7 million.

Presumably, Banks is busy renovating said Malibu pad, or at least strategizing the right time to flip. In the meantime, she’s just listed the modern in Pacific Palisades that she picked up in the late winter of 2018. The house comes to the open market tagged at $7.895 million.

The 2014-built modern-inspired 6,160 square-footer features a façade that’s boxy, but more open than imposing, with a second-floor balcony and a fair amount of glass. The interior design offers a lot of warmth with subtly enhanced plank hardwood and staircase, but has an overall cleanness due to an emphasis on line; hardwood accents suggest linearity, and the wall covering in the living room is a subdued striped pattern. The kitchen boasts floating plank shelves, subway tile, and a double-waterfall island.

The living area features a wall of pocketing glass that opens to a small deck, which in turn gives way to the pool area, an artful used of limited space that makes this central recreation area extremely private.

Banks’ consistent run of investment purchases in Pac Pal suggests she knows the area very well. In the summer of 2018, she sold a larger house on a promontory lot for $8.9 million which she’d picked up for $7.35 million in 2016; about two months later she sold another house in Pac Pal, taking $4 million for her 2014 investment of $3.3 million.

Banks’ current television projects include Dancing With the Stars; she joined the panel of hosts last year.
