Ryan Murphy’s new roost and/or real estate investment is this property in Los Angeles. The Nip/Tuck and Glee creator closed on the property in the final days of September. He paid $7.15 million for it, according to Dirt.

The house in question is located in Sullivan Canyon. It was designed in the ranch style and completed in 1977. From the motor court, its low-slung roof looks both welcoming and somewhat reticent amidst the green of the .53-acre lot’s parklike flora.

In back, of course, the lifestyle-rich design blossoms. The house emerges as a U-shaped design built around a courtyard pool area, with French doors and multi-pane bay windows connecting the shared living space of the interior with the outdoor recreation area.

Semi-vaulted unfinished ceilings, wide-plank hardwood, built-in bookshelves and a stark modernist fireplace distinguish the living room. The master is situated at one end of the home, and features a sliding glass door for patio access.

Most appealing is the combination kitchen and family room; its bay window complex, which is crowned by a pair of series clerestories, opens the room beautifully to the green of the landscaping, and skylights blast the space with additional natural light.

Murphy’s previous homes include an architecturally rich estate in Laguna Beach, which the producer listed for sale in 2018 and ultimately sold about a year ago for $10.7 million. Murphy also owned a tasteful Spanish-style in Beverly Hills that was once hearth and home to Diane Keaton.

Murphy’s current shows include American Horror Story, American Crime Story, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Ratched, and American Horror Stories. His upcoming projects include Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, The Watcher, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, American Love Story, and American Sports Story.
