Jay-Z and Beyoncé took a little vacation last month on a very large boat: the couple skipped the Met Gala and enjoyed the late summer in style in the Mediterranean aboard Flying Fox. The Lürssen-built superyacht that measures 136 meters—that’s nearly 450 feet—making it the largest yacht available for charter. The price for a week onboard Flying Fox is around four million dollars via Imperial Yachts.
Completed in 2018, Flying Fox is built with a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, and manages to fit in two helipads. She features 11 cabins, and can accommodate 25 guests; onboard comfort is ensured by an anchor stabilization system, and by the crew complement: up to 54 members in 27 cabins.
Flying Fox can reach a top speed of 20 knots; she cruises at 15. Her range is 7,000 nautical miles. She is powered by a pair of MTU M84 engines which each produce over 6,000 horsepower. The interiors of Flying Fox are marked by an ethereal, atmospheric living style; a series of decks provides a broad range of recreational options, including swimming pools and spas. Her amenities include a full spa.
The massive, privately owned yacht was designed by Espen Øino, a regular contributor to the style of the yard—he also designed the 140-meter Ocean Victory, which Lürssen launched in 2014. For sheer size, Øino gets the blue ribbon for the 600-foot REV, an explorer which is being built by Romanian yard VARD and destined for work in the environmental research field.
Jay-Z has sold over 125 million records. He’s released 13 studio albums; all topped the Billboard 200 chart save the first two. A trio of collaborative albums to make it to number one bring the number of chart-topping albums to 14—a record for a solo artist.
Beyoncé has sold over 118 million records. She’s released six studio records, with all of them reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
Jay-Z’s net worth is around $1.4 billion, according to Forbes, who estimates Beyoncé’s at $440 million.
