Gene Simmons Completes Sale of Beverly Hills Home for $16M

It’s been something of a transitional year, house-wise, for KISS founding member, singer and bassist Gene Simmons. The rocker sold his home in Hidden Hills for $2 million about midway through last winter; on the cusp of spring he picked up a Malibu nest with fine ocean views for $5.8 million. As spring drew to a close he was in the greater Las Vegas area, shelling out $8.2 million for a modern in Henderson.

Still and all, his trophy mansion and longtime residence in the Beverly Hills Post Office area languished away in the outbox for the better part of a year. First listed by Simmons in October 2020 with an asking price of $22 million, the custom-built property’s price was raised to $25 million in March of this year. But when a buyer came along late this summer, their acceptable offer registered far below the initial asking price, let alone the relist price tag: $16 million.

The house is not for the faint of heart. A 13,405 sq. ft. leviathan sporting aggressively flashy architecture inspired by European manor homes, the seven-bedroom mansion features a great room with soaring sheets of glass that drive home the ambitious sense of scale. Details include many, many sets of French doors, ornamental ceilings, and wall niches; the living spaces and master suite balcony open to 1.84 acres of grounds with a stone patio and pool and spa as a centerpiece.

KISS’s current tour, the End of the Road World Tour, resumed this month after being on hiatus for much of 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. It kicked off in 2019 and has grossed over $100 million so far.
