Accomplished professional athlete and occasional actor LeBron James sold hit Ken Ungar-designed Los Angeles-area house this month. James purchased the home in 2015, but only listed it following his acquisition of a larger Beverly Hills estate in 2020, which he closed on for $36.75 million.

The new estate is the onetime home of Lee Phillip Bell, a journalist-turned-content creator who was behind some of the more enduring soap operas to hit network television, including The Young and the Restless; after she passed away in February of 2020, the estate hit the open market at $39 million. James scooped it up late in the year.

Into the outbox went James’ Ungar-imagined mansion in the late winter of this year, asking $20.5 million. The ask represented a below-purchase return for James, who paid $21 million for it. The property changed hands this week at a figure significantly under that modest figure: $19.6 million.

The house features an L-shaped front with stone accents, a recessed entry flanked by bay window, and a second-floor balcony. In back, the house develops into a grand statement, with a turret section, a pair of covered living areas, and a large upper floor terrace off the master.

The interiors begin auspiciously, with natural-toned hardwood and warm tones in the double-height foyer; it continues to build as a comfortably warm environment in a family room-kitchen combination with abundant glass, including a set of sliding glass doors that open to one of the sheltered outdoor living spaces, purposed as an outdoor dining room in the photo spread.

A formal dining room, a media room and a rotunda dayroom with a bench seat—it occupies the first floor of the turret—round out a look at the first floor. Upstairs, the accommodations culminate in a bright, airy master suite that opens to outdoor living spaces from both the bedroom and bath.

The .56 acre lot is filled out with a large expanse of lawn, a pool and spa, and a poolside cabana.

James’ recent films include Space Jam: A New Legacy. His current television projects include HBO’s The Shop.

With a net worth of $850 million, per Forbes, James is close to reaching billionaire status.
