A series of properties associated with Paul Allen has appeared since the Microsoft co-founder passed away three years ago. This summer, another joined the group: an atmospheric Santa Fe getaway compound consisting of a modern adobe main house, meeting space, guest accommodations, lodge and greenhouse scattered across 20 acres. The estate — which was once home to artist Georgia O’Keeffe — is priced at $22.6 million.

Familiar details of the style abound, and give the main house a heady sense of Southwestern timelessness: kiva fireplaces — there’s one accenting the soaking tub in the master bath — exposed ceilings, vigas, niches finished with the rounded corners of adobe. Across the compound there’s a total of 18,663 sq. ft., with 21 bedrooms and 23 baths in all. The grounds are filled with gardens and rare plantings, including some Bodhi trees, with walking paths throughout the acreage.

All of Allen’s former properties have been remarkable in some way; the list includes Enchanted Hill, the one-time estate of western film star Fred Thomson and screenwriter Frances Marion, who had the now-demolished house on the 120-acre lot designed by legendary Los Angeles architect Wallace Neff. Jeff Bezos scooped up the lot for $90 million last year. Upstate in the Bay Area is the former main residence of Allen, a green-souled mansion designed inside and out with an incredibly literate sensibility—that property sold for $35.3 million in February of last year. Allen’s Beverly Hills residence is currently on the market for $55.5 million.

Allen’s net worth was north of $20 billion.
