Mitt Romney Sells La Jolla Beach House for $23.5M

The La Jolla home of 2012 presidential election contender Mitt Romney found a new owner recently. An article in the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the Utah Senator took $23.5 million for the beachfront residence.

Romney had the house custom built in 2015 after razing an existing 3,000 sq. ft. house, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Romney and his wife Ann purchased the property in 2008, for $12 million. The interior living space of the home they eventually built is at least two and one-half times the size of the demolished house.

Photos show Spanish-style design, two levels, and abundant outdoor living space. The home’s other amenities include a car elevator; news broke that Romney had ordered one back in 2012. Consequently, the feature that was much discussed during his bid for the presidency.
