The supercar/superboat combination or cross-pollination is nothing new. In the past decade, there’s been a speedboat packing Lamborghini V12 engines, an Aventador/speedboat matching set, and a Tecnomar/Lamborghini collaborative effort. A few years ago, supercar designer Frank Stephenson designed a knockout-gorgeous paean to the hardwood beauties of the 1940s and 1950s. Most recently, a Bentley was matched with a sailboat for a very pretty pair indeed.

But the most consistent effort has appeared courtesy of Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The collaboration floated its first matched set in 2007. Over the years, the pairings have included such illustrious AMG models as the Project One, the G 63, the GT S, the GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe, the SLS, the GT3, and the GT R. There was also the beautiful AMG Monaco concept—no matching vehicle needed.

The latest efforts of the land-and-sea meeting of the minds begins with an AMG GT Black Series, which in the case of this figurehead duo is, like its sister of the sea, bright orange. Magmabeam orange, in fact. Its handmade AMG V8 can deliver 720 HP.

For AMG followers who know the GT, however, the real story is the boat. It’s a 41-foot Nighthawk model, which packs five 4.6L V8 Mercury Racing 450R outboards, delivering 2,250 HP in all. The craft features a carbon-fiber deck and hardtop; use of composite materials also keeps the weight down. It is also designed with a low center of gravity for better handling at high speeds.
