Former Vice President Mike Pence has picked up a 10,349 sq. ft. home on five acres in Indiana, his home state. The house contains seven bedrooms and eight baths; it is surrounded by lawns and semi-forested swaths in the Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville.

The large lot enables room to spare for a romantically meandering drive, which culminates in a pond split by a culvert bridge with lantern-capped stone retaining walls on either side. Mature trees complete the scene.

The many-gabled home has a brick exterior with stone accents and a few Craftsman details, including tapered porch posts in front. In back, it blooms into an expansive indoor/outdoor lifestyle home with a covered living area, a pergola-covered lounge currently occupied by a pair of hammocks, and a large in-ground swimming pool. Inside, a cottage rustic design style defines the shared living spaces.

The house is outfitted with a geothermal system for heating and cooling. Its amenities include an indoor partial bastketball court, a gym with a dedicated bathroom, a media room and a handmade bar. On the home’s lower level, a screened porch overlooks the backyard and the pool. On one side of the house, the lawn descends to a set of stone steps, which in turn leads to a deck overlooking the pond.
