Suzanne Somers Gets Her Price for $8.5M Palm Springs Home

With their $2.35 million purchase of a far more manageable contemporary in Palm Springs in 2019, actress Suzanne Somers and her husband, producer Alan Hamel, have been ever trying to sell their sprawling retreat elsewhere in the desert community. This spring, they found the right buyer.

The couple had been trying to sell the ‘idealized rustic’ estate since at least 2015, when the 72-acre property was listed for $14.5 million; the ask had fallen to $8.5 million by February of this year, albeit apparently with the smaller, 28-acre parcel it sold with when it closed at that figure this spring.

The property is a little boho-luxe resort-in-the-making, and surmise would naturally lead one to conclude it had been picked up as a future concern or corporate retreat. The five homes on the estate are linked by steps, with the main house an earthy French-inspired villa; other residences on the property include a stacked-stone structure designed by Palm Springs starchitect Albert Frey.

The couple also own a 433-acre undeveloped slice of Palm Springs; that property appeared on the open market in late 2017 at $9.5 million, and doesn’t appear to have sold before vanishing again.
