Actor Sam Worthington sold this contemporary Cape Cod-inspired home in Los Angeles this spring. The Bird Streets roost changed hands around the middle of May in exchange for $8.15 million; it had been initially listed at $9.25 million when it reached the open market in January of 2020.

The 2015-built house sports some very nice touches, including a midcentury-style masonry accent wall with a linear fireplace and inset shelves, an abundance of reclaimed wood—used to great effect in at least two of the 8 baths, and perhaps as flooring too, although it’s tough to tell—and some less-than-usual light fixtures.

In other ways, the home is spot-on aligned with mainstream contemporary tastes. On that side of the spectrum the kitchen comes off well, with plentiful marble, gold fixtures, and dark, cool-toned cabinetry. Fleetwood doors are a common sight in the shared living spaces.

Amenities include a fitness room with a sauna; a master bedroom with exposed rafters, a fireplace, a private balcony, and barn door access to its accompanying bath; a media room; and an outdoor living area with a grill station and a guest house.

Worthington’s upcoming projects include Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4, and Avatar 5, with Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, and The Georgetown Project, with Russell Crowe, David Hyde Pierce, and Adam Goldberg.
