Broad-spectrum award-winner Kate Winslet is seeing her penthouse condo in Manhattan into her back pages. The critically acclaimed actress listed the pied-a-terre last November with a $5.699 asking price. The duplex unit in West Chelsea is currently under contract.
One of the property’s chief amenities is the 1,700 sq. ft. outdoor living area that occupies most of the two-level condo’s upper floor; the level also features a bright enclosed room with a bath and walk-in closet that could be transformed into a second bedroom suite. With the unit’s current accommodation configuration, the property has three bedrooms on its main floor, with the master suite featuring a sizeable bath with a claw foot soaking tub.
On the lower level, the gem of the shared living area is the penthouse’s second major selling point: a 48-foot-wide great room with a 13-foot ceiling, white oak plank, a fireplace with a hearth step, and a towering wall of built-in inset shelves.
The kitchen also features a 13-foot ceiling, and a few shelving niches of its own. A hardwood island and breakfast bar with an oversized butcher-block cap and hardwood cabinetry compliment the pale hardwood floor.
Other details of this home: an open staircase with a solid balustrade, oversized sash windows, and sliding glass doors for deck access.
Winslet currently stars in HBO’s Mare of Easttown. Her upcoming projects include Avatar 2.
