The Maserati brand got a little racing history burnishing at the Shanghai Auto Show this spring by way of a pair of special editions. The F Tributo Ghibli and Levante give buyers of the Italian-style sedan and SUV daily drivers a little track livery cosmetic flash that reaches back to the 1950s.

The driver who brought glory to the Trident emblem — and, in the spirit of human-mechanical motorsports reciprocity, received more than a little in return from it — was Argentine legend Juan Fangio. The F Tributo Special Editions hint at the red and yellow livery of Fangio’s Maserati 250F, but more generally the exteriors are dressed in colors evoking Italian motorsports and Modena: red and blue, respectively.

The F Tributo duo is outfitted with 21-inch wheels in black, and of course the SE cars have special badging. The cabins are dressed in black leather, with red and yellow stitching.

Production is limited to 345 units worldwide.
