Palm Beach real estate continues to overwhelming represent our Florida-files high-end write-ups. Latest to the game is David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers, who is ponying up a stout $73 million to bring this beachfront estate into the fold, the Wall Street Journal reported this month.

The acquisition is not Tepper’s first foray into the Sunshine State. His hedge fund, Appaloosa Management, is based in Miami Beach. He has been active in Florida since 2015.

A look at public records indicated that the original five-bedroom home on the 1.14-acre property was razed after being purchased in 2017 for a little less than $15 million. The 6,621 sq. ft. house had occupied the lot since 1974. It was replaced by the 12,000 sq. ft. mansion.

According to the Palm Beach Daily News, the house was constructed after resistance from the design board and concerns from neighbors.

The estate is located down the street from the Palm Beach Country Club.

Tepper’s net worth is in the neighborhood of $13 billion, according to Forbes.
