A Porsche 964 owned by legendary Argentinian soccer player Diego Maradona is heading to auction next month. Maradona, who passed away late last year, purchased the 1992 classic new while playing for Spanish team Sevilla FC.
The model variant is something of a syllabic full plate: it’s a Porsche 911 Type 964 Carrera 2 Convertible Works Turbo Look. The rear-wheel drive 911 features a turbocharged version of Porsche’s 3.6L naturally aspirated flat-6, and is a wide-body design. It is a cabriolet, of course.
Following Maradona’s death in November of last year, articles related to him have become collectible. The 964 comes with Maradona’s original paperwork intact. It is expected to see a final bid of north of $200,000 when it goes under the gavel at Bonham’s in early March.
