Sundance Award-winner Ava DuVernay listed this modern ranch in the Hollywood Knolls community this month. The director is asking $2.475 million for the 3,600 sq. ft. residence.

Built into a hillside, the home commands fine canyon views from most rooms; the open-concept main living area features a wall of glass doors that open onto a long balcony that extends nearly the length of the home in back. White walls and ceilings keep the space bright in daytime, and the angular riffs in the ceiling design add a pleasing modern dimension; if you guessed early 1960s for a vintage, you’re right on the money.

The single-level layout means that this house is a rambler, and a walk from end to end does become something of a little odyssey. Along the way is a large master suite, three additional bedrooms, and a space currently purposed as a media room.

DuVernay’s directorial projects include 2018’s A Wrinkle in Time; the film starred Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis, and Chris Pine.
