BMW Motorcycles sees touring in your future for the next time warm weather rolls around. It’s only autumn right now, but one look at the First Edition R 18 Classic for 2021—the second model year of the cruiser—will get your mind thinking spring, and your blood pumping besides.

In fact, it might inspire you to hit the road and follow the sun right now. With design language that balances contemporary touring bike and homage to the R 5, a model that saw more than a few highway adventures back in the day, the R 18 Classic is outfitted with a traditional headlamp and signal array, a teardrop gas tank and a 1,800cc boxer engine that BMW states is the biggest in the company’s history.

Joining the R 18 Classic for a 2021 refresh is the R nineT, which is now green-spirited: the revised boxer benefits from new cylinder heads that strategically improve fuel burning; the bike meets EU-5 requirements. ABS Pro with Dynamic Brake Control, better pulling power, and an optional ‘Comfort Package’—which is great for longer tours—also grace the series’ new model year.
