To reveal the new RM 72-01 Lifestyle timepiece, Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille reached out to composer Thomas Roussel, dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and the London Symphony Orchestra. The collaboration spawned Within, a short film that explores the relationship between precision watch design, orchestral composition, and dance.
That’s one heck of a flashy preamble, but the RM 72-01 Lifestyle lives up to it. The chronograph features typically Mille visuals, with a highly technical design that defines beauty in terms of precision.
The watch is powered by Mille’s CRMC1 flyback chronograph, and features a bidirectional winding rotor in platinum. The case is shown in brushed 5N red gold, but it can also be ordered in ceramic and titanium. The design hints at the iconoclastic by placing sub-dials at 1, 5 and 9 o’clock; Mille is a young watchmaker, and such brash flourishes are par for the course in their watches.
The RM 72-01 Lifestyle is available at $188K.
