TV personality Simon Cowell recently misjudged the performance potential of his e-bike and had a serious accident. Cowell is currently recovering following surgery for a broken back, and he was quick to advise e-bike riders to “read the manual.”
And for good reason. The Swind EB-01 E-Bike can hit 60 miles per hour, and that makes it the most powerful electric bike currently on the market—and illegal on the roads of its native Britain. With three operating modes—Low, High, and Boost—this $20K ecologically relevant two-wheeler can take you from urban environs to fairly major thoroughfares, and off-road too.
The EB-01’s powertrain provides 15 kW of juice, and that’s a lot for a bike with such a lightweight frame. It can be charged in one and a half hours, and its braking system recycles power back into the power pack. And it comes with a 9-speed gearbox, making it efficient and extremely versatile.
Other features of the bike include an adjustable suspension with a DH air fork and shock absorber, twin disc brakes in front, and 24” MTB/DH tires as standard.
Careful with that ‘Boost’ mode, though.
Some good advice…
If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.
I have broken part of my back.
Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.
