Professional basketball player JaVale McGee hefted his substantial Encino estate onto the open market this month with an asking price of $2.695 million.

The Amestoy Estates property is anchored by a 6,263-square-foot home containing five bedrooms and eight baths. The interiors of the house are packed with dark hardwood, with beige tones adding to the heavy warmth. Distressed plank floors bring a rustic period flourish to the living style.

The kitchen’s dark hardwood cabinetry and glossy, moss-green tile provides a touch of color, but the room is given noticeable scale by the large center island which dominates it. There’s more than a little ornament at work in this home, too; witness the carved, French-style fireplace mantel in the living room. French doors pop up frequently in the home, as interior/exterior options and interior transition flourishes.

Although the house works in a series of amenities—a home theater and a gym among them—the property exterior gets the prize. It features a large pool as a centerpiece, but the lush tropical landscaping, gazebo, BBQ station, and outdoor bar accumulate into a park-like recreation area within the half-acre of grounds.
