Back in the winter of 2016, Miley Cyrus purchased this contemporary in Malibu for $2.525 million. The home’s playful postmodern blend of styles and influences and exceedingly private two-acre lot make for a solid combination, but—according to Variety—Cyrus sold the place recently in an off-market transaction for $1.7 million, substantially under her purchase price.

The Paradise Point-area retreat is anchored by a four-bedroom, four-bath house that mixes industrial, modern and farmhouse design elements. It features a meandering, gated drive and a wooden bridge as a prologue, and a clapboard exterior with stacked stone accents. A bit of soft blue against the architecture suggests the playful side of midcentury modern.

The home’s interiors that boast vaulted ceilings, optional glass walls, and natural-toned plank floors. The shared spaces are very open; a solarium-like room overlooks the backyard. The master opens broadly onto a luxuriously peaceful outdoor living area. A pergola supported by stacked stone, lawns, and landscaping that takes best advantage of the wooded lot complete a look at this unique home in a quiet corner of Malibu.

The buyer is Matthew Wilder. His single Break My Stride reached the #5 position on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. He is the producer of No Doubt’s hit album Tragic Kingdom.
